Yakima Racks are on the Road with Rapha

Starting February 14th, Rapha will publish a lockstep, stage for stage, account of the 2009 Amgen Tour of California. Six Rapha Continental riders will attempt to race the same route that pros like Lance Armstrong, Mark Cavendish and Carlos Sastre will be attacking during the 8-day tour.

The team rode every stage just as the pros will, except there was no road closures, no team car, no hand-ups, no screaming peloton, no spectators. Instead, and in pure Continental-style, Cole, Ben, Dan, Jeremy, Ryan and Hahn threw everything they could muster at each day in an effort to see, feel and learn first-hand how difficult it was to ride a professional stage race under their own support. When they flatted, they fixed it along the side of the road themselves. When they were hungry, they stopped for their own food. It was an opportunity for us all to gauge the gap that exists between us and the super-human fitness and program of professional racers.
